The variator is the heart of the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) system, mounted on the engine crankshaft. It continuously adjusts the effective gear ratio by changing the distance between the drive pulley halves, allowing the engine to operate at its optimal RPM regardless of vehicle speed.

Installation guidance: Remove the CVT cover and variator nut (torque: 60-65 Nm on reassembly). Clean the drive shaft thoroughly. Apply light grease to the bushing inner surface only. Do not lubricate the ramp surfaces or roller tracks.
Replace when acceleration feels sluggish despite a healthy engine, when top speed drops by more than 10 km/h, or when the ramp surfaces show visible scoring or flat spots.
